Hi

Can you folks recommend some good S.O. roasters selling 2 pound/ 1 kilo sizes?

I am going thru 8-12 oz bags way too quickly & living in Hawaii of course
better/cheaper shipping companies greatly appreciated

I recently moved back from Asia so am
just getting acquainted with roasters here. I know about Verve & have has excellent service but was
just wondering who else was high on your list for orders this size?

I see many highly recommended roasters only do 12oz/ 5pound kind of deals too which is too large & too small for me

Thanks for any tips

I don't live in Hawaii but this topic is super relevant to me, i'm having trouble finding roasters that don't charge rip-off shipping and additionally sell in 1lb and 2lb bags. Seems like most roasters want to only sell 12oz and overcharge for shipping...I guess they don't want people drinking their coffee.

Kinda feels like your screwed if you don't live in LA, Seattle, or Portland. Some of us pull more espresso than buying in 12oz bags allows but not enough to buy 5 pounders. I see verve doesn't give a nickel of a price break to 1kg bags, that's unfortunate.

I would recommend Nossa Familia Coffee. They offer 2lb bags and give HB members a 20% discount. Their coffee is great! Full cycle is a good medium espresso blend and Teodoro's Italian roast is a good medium dark blend.

Metropolis
Collectivo
Atomic
Bodka

All reasonably priced and sell larger than 12oz.
I drink two shots before I drink two shots, then I drink two more....

I'll second that! Nossa rocks. I've been using them as my primary supplier for about 3 years now. I typically get 2 two pound bags, which end up costing just a tad less than full retail price even with shipping, once I apply the code mentioned above. I typically order other roasters beans after every 3rd or 4th shipment.

Thanks folks will check those out.

Actually Verve has been stellar so far & I have not have anything I did not like.
We have been working our way thru all their single origins 12 oz & will then likely grab a kilo
of our favorite of the bunch.Their free shipping helps as it allows timing of deliveries too

(also having just moved we are just doing pour over & Aeropress right now till we get a machine here)

On some of the suggestions ...one I noticed called Collectivo I had looked at earlier
but wondered how good it was as I saw they were basically batch/co-op types that bought a region from various farms
not single farms.
Not that there would be a problem with that but I just wondered as I had some not great experiences with similar
in Asia where a guy bought from many sources & mixed it all together...In that case not a great final result.

Thanks again will check these out

My last order from them was the Crimson bean. I mistakenly ordered that instead of confection espresso.
I used it for espresso and it was decent. It didn't seem to be designed for espresso so i'm not surprised. Not my favorite espresso profile. A bit bright and not enough chocolate, nuts and caramel flavors.

Just this week i ordered Confection espresso. It's due in tomorrow. Looking forward to trying it.
