That link is to the @collezione_enrico_maltoni Instagram account, which is Private so you have to be logged into Instagram and have been granted permission to follow the account (or be grandfathered by following before the account was taken private) to see the photo.

This is not really surprising... (apparently, he also got the "crazy clamshell" machine, transformed into the official "Schell" machine  ... unless that's another one). Hope he won't sue me for posting "his" pictures. :D

I think that shell machine is my all time favorite.

Thanks for posting the post restoration link. I hadn't seen the pictures. I honestly prefer it prior to the restoration. The patina looked amazing on a seashell and so fitting like it was from the bottom of the sea. Not sure why it turned Ferrari yellow. Also, I can't figure out why they got rid of the original steam knob and porta filter handle that matched the pearl lever handle.

pootoogoo wrote:My friend Rotchitos told me about this auction two week ago at that's only today that I had a revelation.
I was fooled by the title of the sell [«COFFE MACHINE EDISONIA (SNIDER)»]... because this is not a Snider at all.
Because this model perfectly fit one of the first (or the very first) electrical "express" coffee maker for domestic usage: as described on a 1909 patent from Manlio Marzetti.
Finally some development on this story. I must admit that I was two times wrong...

First, the fact that this machine is a Marzetti machine appears in the "coffee makers" book (that I still don't have), hence it's not such a revelation.

More importantly it is indeed related to Snider (the real revelation that Mik Janvier helped me to discover):
Guido Snider was the owner of Edisonia, the shop that was selling Excelsior and Eccelsior machines (the phonograph and the coffee maker) in the 1900's (precise date for the patent is 12 december 1908).
Some more details (in French) at: https://cafeoblog.wordpress.com/2016/10 ... pisode-22/

And in duplex from Trieste, you'll also find an interesting Roberto Grilli interview, gran-son of Guido Snider, also published today by Lucio Del Piccolo: http://caffettiere.blogspot.ca/2016/10/ ... ma-19.html

You're welcome Dominico !

I'll certainly translate all my articles in English in the future... but the chances are that you'll be fluent in French by then.

Anyone here of this vintage model "Antica macchina caffè faema gaggia imperial"

http://www.ebay.it/itm/Antica-macchina- ... 2817824889

Strange naming using both Faema and Gaggia names.
Between order and chaos there is espresso.
Semper discens.

Strange indeed... «Imperial» is a brand from Asnières, France.
It is an express-type coffee machine.
