Picked up one of these as a promotional item from Slayer a few years back. It is aluminum and its width makes for a good fulcrum point. And the soft aluminum won't mar the group on those early mornings when the hand is less than steady. I made a similar driver to Eric's for the dispersion screw out of an American Quarter.

And to the OP.. I have never had that much buildup in mine. Even after a month or more between cleanings (but I don't keep a log).
