Sambalatte on the Vegas strip is great!

We decided to spend the new year holiday with friends in Las Vegas, none of whom is as into coffee as my wife and I are. So we needed to find good coffee with enough food offerings to keep the others happy within walking distance of the hotel. A little searching on HB and the web suggested that the only reasonable choice would be the Sambalatte location in the Monte Carlo (which was across Las Vegas Blvd from our rooms at the MGM Signature), and I found a few descriptions of how to get to it through the casino and hotel. But as we walked up to the entrance road, there it was.....right on the strip! So I assume it's been moved to this large, comfortable shop since the first web reviews.

Great staff! Enthusiastic, friendly, knowledgeable baristas! Excellent coffee roasted on the premises! I was amazed that an MGM-owned business (the paper goods had MGM logos on them and they're in an MGM-owned property, so I assume they were bought or invested in by MGM) would be so independent in spirit and output. They have 3 gorgeous triple group Lineas, and the people I watched using them all did a fine job. Drinks were consistently fine (I had several each of several alternatives over the 5 days we were there). Everything was spotless, and the cups wee particularly well chosen because they all have handles into which a real human (i.e. me) can get a finger without pain or precarious grip.

The pastries were more in keeping with corporate ownership - the eclairs were hard and dry, the croisssants were fair-to-middlin' and the sandwiches were similarly good but not great. I resorted to the fruit salad, which was much better.

I sure hope they can maintain their approach, as it's a very fine shop for coffee!

Too funny. I was in Vegas from 12/26 until new years eve and found Sambalatte walking past the Monte Carlo. Stopped in for a double and the espresso was fantastic! Nutty and smooth was my take. I had a cup of their coffee and wasn't as impressed, but I was there every morning for a double espresso. It was a great way to start each day at a wild place.

Drat! I have to be in Vegas later this month and Sambalatte is at the wrong end and I won't have time to get down there.

Looks like they have three locations, Jones Blvd, ‎Boca Park, and ‎Monte Carlo.

When I was out there for Black Hat/Defcon a year ago I found them. Awesome people - we talked for a good long time.

Agree - was there last month. It is quite decent, good coffee and good breakfast stuff. I hope they stay busy enough to keep going, but not so busy that there's a big line when I go next time. ;)
