I have been sifting through pages of material regarding water and descaling. I have a Rocket Giotto and just watched a SCG video with Andrew from Rocket who now recommends no descale of Rocket machines.
I know this is a topic that comes up regularly but it sure is confusing when you're trying to maintain your equipment as best as you can. Is there some kind of happy medium out there. Also, do the water softener pillows help and if so are they used with straight tap water?

Volvic is usually a safe but expensive bet.

I'm pretty sure a cheap TDS meter would help you out. I would shoot for 50-100 ppm, I am sure Jim and others can help you out more than I can.

Thanks for the replies. I go through the insanely long list later when I have a bit more time. My tap water is 87ppm. Am I in the ballpark?

Great article from the web.archives. Thank you! I have a new Linea Mini and want to start right and stay right. Very helpful article.
