Yesterday a new buddy of mine and I went to take Stone Creek's coffee roasting tour, which they hold every Sunday at Noon at their flagship cafè / roastery. It was a lot of fun, free coffee, educational, and I got to geek out about coffee with other coffee geeks.

I love the feel of the retail shop down near the train depot. That's where the open tours are held.
Stone Creek got serious about their roasting when Eric Resch (owner) promoted a young gent, Christian Ott, as Director of Coffee about 4 - 5 years ago. They both grabbed their Q-certification and it was game on against Alterra/Colectivo. They began the outlandish idea of grading and posting evaluation scores on the coffees at the retails shops. They moved away from almost all coffees being blends and really began promoting their single origins.
Resch is a creative gent and a sincere giver of time and energy to the Milwaukee not-for-profit sector.
