I wonder if anyone can comment on the procedure shown in this youtube video. It seems the simplest but I would prefer approval first.

I have a Rocket Giotto Evo. 2 for about a year and a half. I only make 2 drinks each morning (cappuchino and espresso). I have not ever descaled but I do a chemical backflush every 2 weeks. I do not notice any problems when I inspect the mushroom. The machine is used with the tank reservoir (not plumbed). Thank you for looking.

@erics: does the mushroom procedure solve the thermosiphon stall?

No. It is intended to primarily be an inspection procedure.. . . does the mushroom procedure solve the thermosyphon stall?

Problems with reduced temperature at the grouphead with Rocket machines is most often solved as I posted previously:
A similar problem but certainly not a similar solution.
And then Roger from Illinois posted about a similar problem with his ECM machine. A good thread on this type of problem with ECM machines is here: HX tuning an ECM TechnikaThe upper thermosyphon tube from the heat exchanger to the grouphead is fitted with a 3.00 mm restriction orifice at the grouphead end. I suspect that this orifice is clogged with a bit of scale. You need to remove this tube and soak in a glass of white vinegar or descaling solution for an hour or so.
A similar problem but certainly not a similar solution.
