I was cleaning my Quest M3, had the drum out and the snap ring popped out. I figured no biggie, I have snap ring pliers. Now the snap ring will NOT stay in place. It keeps popping after trying to reset it in place.

I thought I would try running without the snap ring and the front of the drum keeps rubbing against the bean release. If I put some pressure on the center, the rubbing goes away.

Not sure if the snap ring and the rubbing is related or I have two separate issues.

Thanks for any suggestions or advice.

You need that snap ring. It holds the position of the various bits that lock the drum on the center axle in place. Double check that the hex fastener in the center isn't backing itself out too.

Thanks Tom, that's what I was afraid of. I will double check the center hex. Last night, I put the snap ring back in place and so far it appears to be holding when I checked on this morning. I had to put a plastic cup over it in case it popped again, so I can find it! Test will be when I fire it up. Will udpate.
