Is it possible to add RSS subscription to the forum? I've installed a couple of phpbb's for friends and such, and remember seeing a plugin or "mod" that added this. I'm wondering if this would be possible, since it's a very convenient way to keep up with whole forums, or individual posts without necessarily generating email traffic from your server.

OK, let's try this: http://www.home-barista.com/forums/rss.xml.

It is intentionally very lean, only returning titles and links to the last post of the last fifteen topics. In testing a few RSS mods, I was concerned about the added load on the server. HB's page loading speed is very good and RSS readers can place a heavy burden on the server (e.g., by polling every few minutes until the user closes their browser). Let's see how it goes.

great! :D

I think if you only offer the option to subscribed members, it shouldn't be that big of an impact on performance, since only a subset of members would use RSS. The way it is now though, with just the simple "latest updates", is as good as (or better than) email notifications to keep up with the forum.

thanks
