Wow, this is a great site. Somehow I've missed its existence for the longest time, having been over at CG for what feels like years and years. The never-ending performance problems finally forced me to start looking elsewhere and here I am! :) At at rate, my only suggestion for HB right now is to add a 'Mark all forums read' link to the list of unread posts. One of the ways I like to read forums is to look at the unread list and then, when done, mark everything read so as to keep my unread list clean. For now, there's the added niggling step of having to leave the unread list and go back to the main index in order to mark everything read.

Thanks!

Good idea! I just added a Mark all forums read link to the recent posts page on the right, opposite the index link at the top of the listing.

Yes, I do the same. That's really where it belongs!

Thanks Dan.

But, don't these customizations cause problems with EasyMOD? (Or are you even using it?)

I use EasyMOD for big changes because it's convenient, but some changes like this I do by hand (my "real" job is programming for the last 20+ years, so I'm used to rummaging around code). You're right though, merging with phpBB updates can be a pain. I don't know how non-programmers keep a board running. It's a lot of specialized work. :?

I've done some changes by hand, too. Unfortunately, those changes can break the next mod, if it's looking for a text string that I've modified. I'm NOT a coder, I'm an IT manager -- I know just enough to be dangerous.

We hire contractors and feed them espresso to boost their productivity.
