So my Silvia (who has a fine lineage BTW, apparently she used to be Coffeekid's) finally got the PID treatment. You can see all the gory details here. I didn't have the heart to do a Pepe style install.

While I had the case open, I took the time to replace the steam valve seat as well, and that was a really good idea. If you are having to crank your steam valve down to close it... it might be time for a new bit of rubber in there. No pics of that, sorry.

She also got descaled (no scale as usual) and backflushed yesterday. It's almost like having a brand new machine!

Thanks to espressoparts.com for the great pricing and quick service on the PID and SSR.

For my next mods, I want to make a shot timer that starts automatically when you hit the brew switch, as well as plumbing her in, and the pressure mod of course...

I noticed your thread Silvia PID Blog on CG and thought you might be interested in the comments and conclusions in the Bench's Rancilio Silvia Flash Review, Reloaded. It compares the stock and Mike's PID'd Silvia. I invite you to add your own observations while the before/after comparison is still fresh in your mind.
