Elektra Verve - 2 week review

Hi, I don't see a lot of reviews or feedback on this machine so I thought I would give my first impressions after 2 weeks of ownership and about 75 shots/drinks. Start with the bad: - I have read on this forum that the pre-infusion is not worth while. I kind of agree. There is very minimal water

Watery espresso - not sure about grinder and/or settings

Thanks godshot and both Randys for the insight. My coffee right now is a vacuum sealed whole bean product from Costco. This is not fresh coffee but I have had the same issues with intelligentsia coffee. My shot time is approximately 30 seconds. I more often get less than 2 ounces. I'm using an Andre...

Issues with used Quick Mill Andreja (not premium...)

Ok so the flow is back at approximately 3.8 ounces. Funny you say get your brew temps down, it always seems to me the brew temps are consistently low, which would explain the bitterness. I always thought espresso was supposed to burn the lips when you drink it immediately after the shot. My shots ar...

Issues with used Quick Mill Andreja (not premium...)

Less flow back in the reservoir means more pressure in the line to the brew head meaning higher brew pressure right? So my 4 ounces flow back meant a bit less that 9.0 bar which was good which means I'm being counterproductive here - way to go Alex! I'm going to aim for 4 ounces which corresponds to...

Issues with used Quick Mill Andreja (not premium...)

jim_schulman: I did the exercise and my overpressure valve was draining at least 4 ounces per 25 seconds so I think the brew pressure was under 8 bars. I turned the 12mm nut on the OPV until the pump drained between approximately 2.5 ounces of water back in the tank in 25 seconds. I should expect be...

Issues with used Quick Mill Andreja (not premium...)

DOH I saw this in the thread, I never picked up on it... I thought it meant that a suspected clogged gicleur would account for 4 bar of resistance! Well at least taking it apart was fun! The plastic ball was inside of this piece {image}

Issues with used Quick Mill Andreja (not premium...)

Ok so I took the pump apart and made sure all the springs, o-rings, plastic balls, etc were in shape and well positioned. {image} {image} Also checked the piston for damage, looks clean and free of scuffs. {image} I also soaked the parts in vinegar. Now I need some sleep but tomorrow I'll put
