Vibiemme issues...
Thank you, Randy... your suggestion makes sense & I ordered a can of Caig Deoxit D-5 immediately after reading your astute response yesterday. Even if there's more going on, cleaning up electrical contact points & switches will certainly help everything & probably should've been obvious preventive m...

Vibiemme issues...
My 10ish year old VBM Domobar PID has been displaying intermittently and for a few weeks now, and I could hear the anti-vacuum valve closing multiple times. The machine still seemed to be working properly though until a few days ago when I had no steam pressure (separate boiler) & the group temp was...

Old(er) vs New Espresso Machine...
Thanks to all three of you guys for experienced, thoughtful & insightful answers. That was exactly the info I was seeking...wondering if I spent the $2000+ for a prosumer machine, would I regret it later. Having been all through my machine, the quality of parts & workmanship is very obvious. In fact...

Old(er) vs New Espresso Machine...
Hey guys...I realize that this will be a difficult opinion to give unless you actually have some personal experience with both types of machines. I have refurbished a 1996 2000 watt single group Astoria Laurentis machine, plumbed in and situated on my kitchen island with my Mazzer Mini E doserless. ...

Novice needing information on HX group water temperature...
After "rebuilding" (essentially a cleanup, as it was still in great shape other than having had water sit in the boiler for almost 8 years) my 1996 Astoria Laurentis Junior (single group), 2000 Watt, HX machine, the water temp still seems to be considerably below where it should be. The boiler press...

Cleaning up 1996 Astoria, have questions for the more experienced...
Thank you, godlyone, for the advice. I have finally gotten around to tearing down my machine & am cleaning the parts right now. You were correct...probably of cupful of lime scale inside the boiler. You mention thoroughly cleaning the grouphead, but are you talking about disassembling this piece?!!!...

Cleaning up 1996 Astoria, have questions for the more experienced...
I have been cleaning up a 1996 Astoria Laurentis Junior that I've had stored in my basement for about 8 years. It seems to be in very good condition...I have replaced the anti-siphon valve and the double scale pressure gauge, although I now don't think it was malfunctioning. Water had set in the mac...

Laurentis single group restoration
Hey Iggy! I also have this same machine, but have had it in storage for since 2002. I've decided to see if it's running OK & perhaps move it to my kitchen island. I've been using a Capresso C1000 Super Automatic for occasional espresso drinks, but it is a huge compromise. I drink way more
