La Marzocco GS/3 MP pressure profiling upgrade => board upgrade?
Well, I left one shot go for extra long this morning and the timer got to 99, then back to 90, then up to 99, then back to 90. I stopped the shot at ~125s. If there is a timeout on my machine, it appears to be a rather long one. @danetrainer Thanks for the tips on the conversion!

La Marzocco GS/3 MP pressure profiling upgrade => board upgrade?
Thanks for the reply! I agree that the new board may have some nice functionalities but I can't think of when I would need to control the machine via WiFi. I have not pulled shots longer than 65s on the machine but will check tomorrow when and at what volume the shot time out turns of the pump

La Marzocco GS/3 MP pressure profiling upgrade => board upgrade?
My 2010 GS/3 MP may be due for a group o-ring refresh soon as I last installed the Kalrez O-rings (SA600K2) three years ago. I was thinking of upgrading the group head to pressure profiling. La Marzocco tells me that I need to install the retrofit kit 954 AND install a new board to make sure that

Macap M7D starts briefly then stops. Bad capacitor?
I have had this grinder since January 2011 and it has been glorious. Sometime around August 2014, the grinder started grinder significantly coarser. I had to rotate the dial 2 or 3 turns towards finer grind to achieve the same pulls as before. The grinder settled and worked OK. With some blends (4 B...

Nominees for "Favorite Espresso Blends 2011" review - discussion
+ 1 for Sightglass Owl's Howl. The most surprising blend I have tasted. From my previous post:+1 for Verve Sermon. More on the comfort blend side but truly great body

Tombstone Coffee rejection made my day
Which store did you go to? In San Francisco, the Noe valley and Portero Whole Food sell Ritual, Four Barrel and de la Paz with roast dates less than 3 days old. In Palo Alto, you get Barefoot (also quite fresh). Quite the selection if you ask me

La Marzocco GS/3 steam died
Funny thing is that I was recently faced with the completely opposite problem: the second check valve between the steam boiler and the hot/cold water mixer got stuck in the closed position. Not sure how it got stuck since the hot water tap worked when I first got the machine in mid january and quit ...

Sightglass Owl's Howl Espresso
I got to visit Sightglass in San Francisco last weekend. The place is still under construction and there is a way to go until they fully open (ETA late spring 2011). Right now, they just have a garage-style setup in what will be their future entrance but they are already roasting some fantastic bean...

Baratza Vario to see/try in San Francisco?
I saw some Varios for sale at Ritual on Valencia last month. I did not see any display models to test but they might be able to let you test one of the boxed items
