Colombia Familia Gutierrez Moka

I roasted my first batch last weekend. I didn't take any telemetry but I over-developed it anyway. I only took it about 13F over the start of first crack. Maybe my roaster doesn't muffle sound very well, but I had a quite noticeable first crack. Although, it was about 10F earlier that most other bea...

Colombia Familia Gutierrez Moka

Thanks for the input guys. I'll check twitter and share here when I give it a shot. Yeah the price was high, but I figured I'd spend about the same amount if I picked up a 12 oz bag of a high quality African from a good roaster. I know I'd spend twice that on an 8 oz bag of

Colombia Familia Gutierrez Moka

Did anyone else snag some of this coffee during the day or so that it was in-stock? I just received mine a couple days ago and haven't roasted any yet, but I am excited! I haven't had a coffee over 90 points in the house in several months. Not sure about SM's new website, but here is the cached page

Unknown grinder on Craigslist, can anybody ID?

That is a Rossi RR45. 64mm burrs, stepped adjustment, noisy. It's an alright grinder but I wouldn't pay more than $200 for it and it better be in perfect operating condition with sharp burrs for that price

Lambro upgrade

Great work! I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this done on the forums. I am interested to see how it all turns out and if you can notice a difference

ZR-71 grinder prototype

Very impressive! I don't mean to doubt your consistency of precision, but wouldn't the only meaningful runout measurements be taken from the part of the shaft where the burr sits? (as well as locations where bearings sit) On a side (but related) note, does anyone know of anyone that has bothered to ...

Need dimensions of wooden portafilter handle for Elektra Microcasa a Leva

I'm surprised at the quick response! Thanks for the help guys! Robert, thanks for the added advice. These handles will be domestic cherry. I have successfully cut threads in cocobolo before, which is just a bit harder than cherry. Would you still recommend a threaded insert? I can check out Ace to s...

Need dimensions of wooden portafilter handle for Elektra Microcasa a Leva

To anyone who owns an Elektra Microcasa A Leva with wooden handles, I am turning a handle for my uncle, and to avoid him having to send me his portafilter and be without coffee for a week, could someone take out their calipers (he doesn't have any) and provide me with a couple dimensions? I am looki...
