Yes, a Monolith is worth it

Most of this is about espresso grinding. The answer in my experience is the final taste is significantly better as well as a significant reduction in the amount of work it takes with my Versalab. I can only offer my experience I have used a good number of grinders such as a super jolly, pharos, vari...

La Pavoni Europiccola upgrades... worth it?

I currently use a La Pavoni Europiccola older 1980s mode with 49mm pf 2 switches, and steam heated grouphead. I have had it for well over 15 years maybe more. It is the fastest heating model of all of the La pavoni levers. I don't need a bottomless portafilter. Bottomless did produce a different tas...

Grinders, grinders, grinders.... what's wrong with me?

What happened with me is I initially refused to believe that the more expensive grinders produced better results and as I got better and better at pulling espresso shots I found the quality of my early lesser quality grinders were the road block until I finally got a Versalab (early single belt mode...

My Versalab repaired by Teranova is still running strong with same belt

It's been about 4 years since my last post about this. I had only 2 stoppages which I assume was hardened non coffee particles that found their way into the grinder accidentally since I could not get it to repeat using hard light roasted beans. That was about 2 years ago. The circuit breaker tripped...

Need replacement washer for LIDO ET

I have the Lido E same as yours but with a solid non folding handle. I replaced my nylon washer with a three thin phospher bronze washers stacked on top of each other (It's what I had on hand and better anyway) to approximately equal the nylon washer thickness. I found my white nylon washer was smas...

Which part to lubricate on Helor 101?

They don't use ceramic bearings anymore. They use steel because too many people were breaking the ceramic bearings to the point it became a problem. I frankly never liked the idea of hard brittle ceramic bearings that can crack if a mistake is made in use. Steel is much stronger and by far hard enou...

Grind settings based on what factors?

I hate to complicate things but grind size, water temperature, brew time, and amount of coffee used will all have a significant effect on flavor. When doing pour over in my Chemex I generally like to determine how strong my brew will be by adjusting the amount of coffee I use then adjust my grind to

Upgraded Pharos does Rocky Road again (cheap but good fix)

Still working with no problems. I highly recommend this mod or something similar. It's still early but I am confident that this will continue to work fine
