Espresso and "Wet Shaving"

I've got about a dozen razors, all but one older than our Civil War. The one that's not is "new", I purchased in 1965 and paid about $40 for it back then... When I was using the razors, it took me about 5 minutes to shave (wouldn't have taken quite that long, but I've got a beard and

Espresso and "Wet Shaving"

I've been shaving with a badger hair brush for almost 50 years now! Only resorted to aerosol on business trips, and that's been "stopped" now for about 20 years. My travel kit has a badger brush and a cake of shaving soap in it all the time now. Used a straight razor until about 20 years ago

Starbucks has an epiphany!

I've seen Franke and Melitta in MickyDs. My experiences with McD's is they're more consistent than SBUX and MAYBE a bit better (but that's not saying much!)

Shots too fast regardless of tamp/grind

I have an SBux Barista (and am using it at the present time! Need to make a small shelving unit to store my tampers, pitchers, etc due to limited space. Otherwise I'd be using my Gaggia Factory 16!) and I can tell you I tried for YEARS to get it to make decent espresso! Grind, Tamp, nuttin'

Remembering my first espresso...

'Twas early May of 1967. I was in Montreal for Expo '67. Cold, blustery day and the group I was with had "a day off to explore the show". A friend and I stopped @ the Italian Pavilion where there was a "Coffee Bar" setup outside under a tent awning. Big, chrome domed machines with levers

MVP Espresso 2009 by Paradise Roasters

Unfortunately, that's the very reason that I put the Gaggia Factory back and brought out the SBUX Barista. I'd been fighting a VERY BAD cold or the flu for about a month and between the taste I was getting and the obvious foobars I was doing (sour, burnt, etc...) I just decided to go with the Barist...

Frustrated new user

Keith, I've been searching for great espresso for 20+ years now. Tried various Krups machines (my first was the infamous steam toy! and I actually made some fairly decent espresso with it!). Currently I've got the predecessor of your grinder (a Starbucks Barista Burr Grinder, was imported as the SBU...

Opinions of Rattleware Tampers?

The one I got is solid SS with what appears to be a rubber cover over the top "half" (approximation). I've got fairly large hands so the large round seemed to be the nicest one for me... Fits quite well in MY hand... seems to handle well

Opinions of Rattleware Tampers?

Well, I JUST got a Rattleware 53mm Large Round Handle for my SBux Barista and I've got to say I LIKE it.. decent fit in the hand, perfect fit for the basket and overall a nice tamper. One thing it does much better than my Espresso Parts NW EP-5, it has a much smoother, more polished surface and fresh
