Inverted thermosyphon
Just having some weird thought. What if we invert the thermosyphon lines on the e-61 machine and let cool water enter at the top of the boiler. When it's stable, cool water line has shorter path to the group via the upper tube, and has lower temp from mixing not so hot water from lower tube

the grouphead that will not collect coffee dust above the shower screen mesh. reducing in both pressure and temperature profile. aesthetic look. sounds like a spring loaded lever machine

Heat exchanger blows steam
when the machine is hot: continue to run the machine even it only comes out in steam, until you see water come out. wait for few minutes, run it again, steam or water? check the pump whether it's hot

Where's the Magic in Espresso?
very good post indeed. for me, the magic is in balancing all the parameters to create an enjoyable experience in drinking a small but intense cup of coffee. i believe that every human being can taste and realize a well prepared cup of espresso. it is sweet and easy to drink
