La Marzocco USA Tech Support Rocks!

A couple of other idiosyncrasies of the early models: -- the steam valve handle doesn't unscrew. Must have been epoxied in place. -- the newer vacuum breaker valve for the GS/3 sticks too far out to fit, the frame of the machine is in the way. I used a Dremel with a carbide bit and cut a notch in

La Marzocco USA Tech Support Rocks!

Yes, and in retrospect I should have been more proactive at that time. In my defense, at that time I had just started a four year multiple surgery fight against tongue and throat cancer and wasn't on top of my game. But that's a reason, not an excuse. I'm going to pick up an electronics course, then...

Just to clarify, the new brain box does slide all the way into the machine with a bit of coaxing. The new one has a longer bulge on the top that interferes with the grounding bolt (which can be moved) and prevents the older back panel bottom from sliding down into the slot because the male portion o...

Good info. Many years ago a mechanic failed to tighten the lug nuts on the left rear wheel on my '62 VW Beetle. It came off when I was descending a mountain in West Virginia, luckily on a fairly tight left curve so the axle didn't dig into the pavement and flip me. Disturbing to see your wheel pass ...

La Marzocco USA Tech Support Rocks!

Yeah, I was without it for months, and there was an initial $800 repair by the very first place before it was sold to the couple, so ~ $6300. Price of a new machine. When the pump went out the first time I never spoke with LM directly, not sure they were up and running like they are now

Yeah, I figured it would be more trouble to pursue than it was worth for the first of the two. The fact that they wouldn't take a credit card, only cash or check, should have been a red flag, but my local roastery said they were competent. Hindsight is 20-20. The second did her best, repaired everyt...

FWIW, I went from an ECM to the GS/3, still very happy, would do it again in a heartbeat. I was tangentially in on the discussions when the machine was being designed. For all I know both repair places may be extremely competent when working on non-GS/3 machines. I do know at work, where all the sop...

It was on and hooked to a water supply, even though the brain box was sitting behind it. Why it didn't overflow I don't know. We didn't actually pull shots or use the steam valve before or after putting it back together. But I didn't do either when it overflowed (both times). Maybe my line pressure ...
