Layered Latte. I was feeling experimental today!

This really puts my sad excuse for lattes to shame. Really looking forward to the video!

Whats In Your Coffee Roaster This Week

This week has been Costa Rica Finca La Ponderosa 100% Bourbon. I'm getting over a cold, so I am sad to say I can't seem to taste all the notes this coffee has to offer. But it has a nice thick body as straight espresso. I can taste granola. As an americano I can get butter on the very

Member Poll: What Is Espresso To You?

I think I'm going to answer this poll straight, instead of trying to interpret. Question: What is Espresso to You? Answer: Ultimate method for preparing and experiencing coffee And now for clarification. I learned that I enjoyed coffee young. I can remember the very first sip of coffee I ever had. I...

Grinder tasting notes

My limited experience with grinders has led to some interesting findings so far. My very first grinder used for espresso was a Breville BCG450XL. It was originally paired with a Le'Lit PL041. I never achieved creamy espresso, and flavors were never very clean. I modded the Breville to go finer and t...

How was your morning coffee today?

Please excuse the double post, but I figured an update on the Robusta was worth it. It seems each day the Robusta has to rest it becomes more rubbery and medicinal. The tobacco notes dissipated into that burnt tire taste and I honestly can't stand to drink it. I have a 1/2 lb. left green that I'll s...

How was your morning coffee today?

Pawel, it must be either a problem over roasting or perhaps pulling the shot at too high a temp. I can see how quickly the tobacco flavor can turn into burnt tires if not careful. My roast hit about a Full City+ and I actually don't pay attention to the temperature of pulls (not now anyways). I have

How was your morning coffee today?

What an incredible morning! I roasted my first batch of Robusta! Decided to try it straight to get a feel for it. I've never had robusta except for in a blend. And It was quite amazing! Went with a straight espresso shot and it was pure crema! Sweet, tobacco, and a baker's chocolate finish. It was v...

Whats In Your Coffee Roaster This Week

I roasted up a pound of Hawaii Kona - Moki's Farm for the week (and hopefully it'll last through some of the week). I've tried Kona blends and have even found SO Kona in a shop in town. I honestly never really liked it. i decided to revisit now that I'm home roasting. I'll go ahead and admit I botched

How was your morning coffee today?

The day started off with a caffé macchiato. Have been using the last of the Sweet Maria's Liquid Amber Blend I roasted. The macchiato came out very nice (though the art on top wasn't top notch in any respect). I think my milk frothing is making steady strides. As for the coffee itself, I really enjo...

Think Starbucks coffee is too "burnt"? They have an answer for you.

You'll have to excuse me for not completely adding to this discussion, but as some one who has to try different stages of my coffee roasting, a green unroasted coffee bean tastes like a twig. I dunno what Starbucks is expecting...of course they are placing it in some melange of powder. All i have to...
