Is Sweet Maria's selling past-its-prime coffee?

Yes and No. It's the latest addition, which I agree to the casual reader might imply "latest arrival". If one digs deeper SM is transparent about releasing coffee in a manor to have a consistent supply of origins if possible. And claim to cup coffees, to check for decline. I'm also guilty for "assum...

Is Sweet Maria's selling past-its-prime coffee?

Isn't this still current crop coffee? {link} Ethiopia is in a bind right now, with container shipping thru the Red Sea almost completely shut down. {link}

Skywalker v2 - 400 gram batch & Artisan for ~$500?

This is a revival of an old design from way back; and been gaining popularity lately. Both in electric and gas powered versions. One Taiwanese roaster {link} has been on the market for awhile. The gas versions have a burner mounted to the faceplate jetting a flame inside the drum. {link} Looks to be...

Roaster upgrade: Huky 500?

I'd go get it, I have a similar setup with the J-pipe, nothing wrong with that. It also has the perforated drum and motor, a $100 optional part. So it's obvious the roaster has the solid drum and 72rpm motor. looks like an Amprobe meter for manual or datalogging, two screens and fan control slider. ...

Simple DIY mod for shop drum roasters (500g-3kg)

Looks like he has the tube located on the vacuum side, in the plenum. And maybe closing off the air valve when using the tube, then resetting air afterwards

What's my roaster worth...

The double wall drum has two layers of (speculating) thinner metal, air space, solid metal ring front and back. The single wall drum usually just has a plain edge, whereas the double drum squared thicker edge at the front. If the drum is cast iron, it's going to be thicker as a single wall. Have not...

How light do you have to roast to see only 11-12% weight loss?

I don't want to drink a Peru any lighter than you did, but if you want to go uber light agree with the idea of using an Ethiopian origin. What I would suggest is to end the roast with the ROR near zero, with some planning and practice of course. You need to get the ET down where the BT

What's my roaster worth...

Curious if the machine has the single wall or double wall drum? Like I was saying, half of the original 2016 price is where I'd start. Major modifications would be something added to the base price, along with any other price/value areas. The VFD fan upgrade is a major modification and fixes a fault...

What's my roaster worth...

It seems there's a lot more used small gas roasters for sale these days vs years past. As a buyer I'd say 1/2 of the original price would be in my wheelhouse. I'm going to be selling a gas roaster next year, so that's the starting place for me to look at. Other factors might be location, brand recog...

Ya mean just like wine? Luckily Joy still has Starbucks, Dunkin' Donuts, and CosMic's for coffee drinks
