La Marzocco GS/3 AV - change of steam boiler vacuum breaker
A slight further turn should cause it to seal and stop leaking, the rule of thumb I've heard is hand tight and then 1/4 more, which has seemed to work pretty well. With one of the older fittings I did tighten too much and it broke, so shouldn't need to be crazy tight

La Marzocco GS/3 AV - change of steam boiler vacuum breaker
Interesting to see they've got a few of those lines moved to treated metal, but left other ones copper. Wonder what the rationale is rather than just converting them all. Good to see that they finally stopped just stubbing off the control lines for the AV connections there and actually removed them....

La Marzocco GS3 conical retrofit - small leak out of group?
Happens both unfortunately, I was wondering the same thing if warming up would expand the seals - it's more of a drip when turning on (when at 12 bar), but still keeps happening when fully warmed up with line pressure. Perhaps dropping to 2 bar will help, now with the new conical setup, there's zero...

La Marzocco GS3 conical retrofit - small leak out of group?
After an exhausting retrofit of a ton of things on this GS3, it's back up and running along with the new conical valve setup. I have a tiny drip out of the grouphead through the screen, about maybe a drop every 30-60s. I tore it apart and double-checked all the o-rings, replaced a few (if you pull o...

La Marzocco GS/3 AV - change of steam boiler vacuum breaker
I think there are 3 or 4 crush washers sizes the GS3 uses, at one point I ordered about 30 of each which is pretty handy to always have them ready to go for anything that comes up

La Marzocco GS/3 AV - change of steam boiler vacuum breaker
No Loctite needed, you use a copper crush to seal that connection directly against the boiler

La Marzocco GS3 - Leak at Swivel Fitting in Steam Assembly Elbow
Another thought is to upgrade to the new metal steam connection rather than the Teflon tube. I did this when I moved to the full-burn wand and it's been pretty solid. If you do the new pro steam wand, this is also upgraded I believe as part of that kit

La Marzocco GS3 steam boiler hairline crack
The plastic bottom of the brainbox is cheap to replace, about $40 from Marzocco (and includes the drain holes on the bottom now, I'd drilled out my own). My screw holes were cracked and the mounts also starting to give. Biggest pain will be swapping over all the parts

La Marzocco GS3 steam boiler hairline crack
Ah that happened with the *old* solenoids, and was the reason I decided to go on a bender and replace everything that seemed reasonable. Honestly on taking apart the old solenoids, probably a good soak in vinegar with a new spring is all that was needed (fairly simple design), but after 11 years of ...

La Marzocco GS3 steam boiler hairline crack
I did not do the retrofit, but did do the conical valve. It was more of a pain than I was expecting, but the new design should be much more durable and it's fun to have a change. A benefit is that at this point a lot of those parts might need a refresh/cleaning, so changing to the new setup
