[FS] Desert Ironwood Burl Portafilter/Knobs/E61 Knob

Selling my set of wood turned by cannonfodder from my old VBM DD3. It's hard to capture how gorgeous they are - the three photos on the machine are when I had a nice DSLR so they look truer to the ones on the towel that were just taken on my phone. The figuring is just stunning and desert ironwood

Starting to roast - Greens selection

I still do not believe that any significant amount of CO2 is produced after roasting, only released from the bean structure based on everything I've read. The only thing I can really find that would oxidize releasing CO2 in the presence of air would be the VOCs in the Furan class which is the larges...

Pain points in the life of a roaster/specialty coffee enjoyer

CO2 escape from a vacuum sealed roast

So the CO2 is actually produced during the roast from Strecker degradation, pyrolysis of sugars, and the Maillard reaction.... there may be others but I can't recall. It then is basically trapped in the structure of the bean and slowly finds its way out of the bean structure as it is under higher th...

Continuing difficulties in diagnosis

It sounds like you've tried a bunch of stuff and have been at it for a while. The one thing it sounds like you haven't tried to change is the coffee. Perhaps switching to a different brand and giving that a try to see if there is a change. Second, potential grinder issue. Rock through it without you

Custom Silicone Corner Tamping Mat

I think you're going to have an extremely difficult time with that one. You would have to find someone who has the mold and is willing to custom mix a batch of silicone for a one off. My only though would be looking into the additive prototype space - you can 3D print silicone so if you had an
