Milk separation when steaming small amounts of milk.
Sorry to jump in with another "me too" but, me too. The top inch of steamed milk is completely porcelain-smooth bubble-free micro foam, everything else is hot milk. I have a 4.5L boiler in my 1-group Brasilia and a 12L boiler in my 2-group Laranzato so it's not a boiler size issue. Since I've been s...

Anybody else have trouble telling sour from bitter apart?
pavman, I'm glad you brought this up; I've been reluctant to since it seems so trivial. I've been tasting what I'm sure is sour in my shots. The extraction time/flow/etc. have been spot on. Common wisdom tells me that my temp is too low. I gradually kicked up the pressurestat, let the machine stabil...

Quest M3 now for sale at Coffeeshrub
Tom said the reason for listing it at CS was because the M3 is a step above a home roaster-approaching a sample/small shop roaster. Also, it doesn't carry any electrical certifications. I suspect the latter reason is factored more heavily in to the decision. That said, I REALLY want one but I'm a bi...

2-group Wega has one ruptured HX - Options?
I capped and plugged it yesterday; I'm going to hook the water up tonight. *Fingers crossed* --UPDATE-- Ok, I hooked up the water line and fired her up; lo and behold, she's working! I can't say how nice it was to hit the brew switch and NOT see the boiler level increase...even nicer was pulling

2-group Wega has one ruptured HX - Options?
Initially I was hoping that it was the boiler autofill solenoid, however I confirmed the inevitable when I took the HX inlets off and felt around. Sure enough, there's about a two inch gash in the right HX. I had the machine running off a jug while I tested it out, hence no mains pressure. When the

Help with spent puck post analysis
Other than the cracks, do you have another reason to suspect channeling? Aside from getting a naked PF, your best bet in diagnosing your possible problem would be to change one thing at a time with your routine and observe the result. I would start by eliminating the PF tapping (either the PF to the...

Thanks for the link! I remember skimming over that thread in the past; the red 'HAZARDOUS WASTE' drum left an impression...time to read it more closely
