Very clean install Turtle! You can pick up a spring loaded punch for <$10 on amazon or elsewhere. That will help prevent the drill bit from wandering. Also if its not obvious, be sure to install your BT probe where the bean mass is when the drum is tumbling. It should be the clean spot on the

Poppery 1 Modification Ideas
Matt, I also started on a Poppery 1 and all I did was wire the fan to always run and have the power switch cycle the heating element. Why not start there and see if its your thing before jumping in whole hog? Hand surfing your first 10+ roasts will be educational. Can't speak towards your

Outside of the impact on the roast profile already covered, I think one thing that can be gleaned from how long 1C lasts is the uniformity of the beans.
