Does bag size make a difference?
Impact is the right word. My morning experience with Louisiane vs Hex Seasonal Blend showed that even with an extra 4 grams of coffee and 10 micro positions finer on my Baratza Vario, I am getting way too much yield.. La Colombe Louisiane - 17g 30 seconds 38 grams yield This is with micro setting M

Does bag size make a difference?
Yes. The flakes are what appears in the yellow/gold particles. I don't see this in the La Colombe coffees I have used. Here {image} and here {image} Best, Dave

Does bag size make a difference?
Thanks again. Agree it is the same coffee. I can't then explain why moving to the larger bag size made such a difference for me. I even once took beans from my favorite shop at the time (BWE Cafe in Newport JC), which came from the 5lb bags, around the time I made the switch. I appreciate the tips

Does bag size make a difference?
Does a 5lb bag have any advantage over a small (1lb or less) in a home setting (2/3 espresso per day)? I've spent years using 5lb bags from La Colombe. I just felt their coffee was forgiving. I could easily hit my numbers (17g in, 38g yield, 30 sec) and get good flavor even when the bag was 8-10 weeks

Broke plumbed Cellini Professional - help!?
So far this has had a very happy ending. After a lot of help from Eric, we discovered that sometimes the simplest solution is the best. I emptied the boiler through the tea valve while the machine was off. It completely filled the drip tray and then an additional cup or so. When I turned it

Broke plumbed Cellini Professional - help!?
Thanks Eric. Did I label the picture below correctly? {image} I'm not sure if the heating element disconnect is what I labeled as A or B (or something else entirely?). Note that B has one red wire and A has two black wires. If it is A, which wire should I pull (or both)?

Broke plumbed Cellini Professional - help!?
Hello everyone. I am a bonehead. I broke the Rocket. It is a Cellini Professional that I plumbed a few years ago. I had to move the machine (the boiler was full) so I shut the water supply off, disconnected the water line, and moved it. Here is what happened when I put it back

Sprites!
to all: Looks like you hit it exactly. I wish I could admit that I followed your instructions but I actually did it by mistake. As much as I make it complicated, you were right. I wound up reducing the amount of coffee in the basket and I made the grind a bit finer. Bingo;

Sprites!
Sorry for the long delay. My update is that I got the screen out and boy was it gummed up. Although unfortunately it didn't fix it. The taste is improved but all the spriting and jetting is still there. The screen and the group definitely needed some attention. Numerous paper towels and Q-tips with ...

Sprites!
Jim - great advice. I have actually run out of cafiza after recently cleaning and will order more to test. A report back will be a bit delayed until I get in my new cafiza. I have considered the screen but I observed on my silvia that a clean screen would "rain" water in droplets througout the
