Owner Experience with the Brazen Brewer

Is the "foam" in the photo a trick of the light or exposure? My calibration boil appeared somewhat more pedestrian. Anyway, the coffee I have been getting out of the BraZen has been quite impressive, both with older beans and fresh. I set the BraZen for 750 feet of altitude (I am at 691 per

Owner Experience with the Brazen Brewer

Mine just arrived this afternoon. As others have noted, excellent build quality. System calibration seems very effective. Should have a nice cup in just a little while, though I seldom drink non-espresso any more

Large Home Roaster Coffee Buying Club

Like Bob, you can count me in to this group, but I also agree with his assessment that there is less overlap between SM's and Coffee Shrub than is often assumed. Greg

Espresso machine selection criteria

Speedster. I have a friend with a Salvatore, and it is indeed a nice, well-built machine. I would call it a work of art built like a tank. I prefer my Speedster and so does my friend

Why do bulk grinders produce a superior grind for non espresso preparation?

Mahlkoenig Pro-M User Reports?

The MashMaster is very much like the Schmidling MaltMill. I had a motorized version in my beer brew days that I wheeled and belted to run at a very low 150rpm. But in my experience, the job of those types of mills is very different from what we want with coffee. Perhaps it is purely an issue

Talk me out of a Izzo Alex Duetto II

Ben: Well said. You have a very nice rig right now. Worth taking the time to make the most of it. Upgradeitis is an insidious-and often fun-affliction. But taking the time to learn strengths and weaknesses of tools, and how to compensate for and build with them, is where the learning lies. When I ma...

Talk me out of a Izzo Alex Duetto II

Mike: A bit off topic, but yes, I am using and enjoying my Behmor. It's not my first roaster, and I am sure it won't be my last. When I decided to upgrade from my iRoast after purchasing my Duetto (the original topic here) I chose it over the HotTop programmable and the Gen Café. It was an informed

Talk me out of a Izzo Alex Duetto II

Nixter is right. There ae points of diminishing returns, and the last 1% will almost invariably cost proportionately--sometimes absolutely--more than the first 99%. The Speedster is an elegantly designed machine that definitely helps me make fewer mistakes than previous equipment. And as nixter said...
