Upgrading to a proper espresso machine, budget around 1000 euros
IMO the grinder is more important than the machine. Most super automatics do not have an extended service life. Don't know about availability in the Eurozone, but perhaps you can find a used grinder along the lines of a Super Jolly mazzer that has good burrs. Wish you great coffee whatever way you go

If she can't find a used Super Jolly, what would be a good recommendation for new, in the $350 to $400, or thereabout price range? She is not really interested in coffee, m...

Olympia Cremina 220V to 110V conversion possible?
I did this. No problem. If you are qualified to work on 115 volt or 230 wiring, there is nothing to it. Just change out the element. Suggest you change the gasket for the element. Also, a kind poster here sent me some heat resistant wire at cost. I think I noticed that orphan

Is US Olympia Express distributor out of business?
To be clear, the machines changed around 2002, and with current production you can utilize the pre 2002 gaskets - Heads for the run made 2002 - 2008 or thereabouts can be sent back to the factory to be machined out to current production. Once you have current production specs, the pre 2002 gaskets w...

Newbie - Chance to buy used Olympia Cremina
Personally, I have single baskets but have never bothered to use them. The lever machines generally take a smaller portafilter anyhow. I use Mcal double baskets for that reason in my Creminas. I think you can get just about everything you need to keep one of the older Creminas running but a switch. E...
