John Guest Fitting - Leak Stopped on Its Own?

Not sure if anyone has experienced anything like this, but I plumbed in my machine several months ago. All went well except one line going into one fitting had a very slow drip that I couldn't get to completely stop. I ended up putting a bowl under the drip and just using it knowing I would have to

Can La Marzocco Linea Mini make good out of "bad" coffee?

I never said the Mini wasn't a great machine. Although Keno certainly took that strawman narrative to heart and posted irrelevant quotes saying it was a great machine. I'm sure it is. Not sure how that is relevant. One thing doesn't have to be bad for others to be good (always a strange way of debat...

Can La Marzocco Linea Mini make good out of "bad" coffee?

I did say with any "capable machine" which I meant to include the machines we all know and love around here. Not a $100 steam toy from Macys. And the question was "Can the La Marzocco LInea...". If you don't agree that the vast majority of prosumer type machines could yield similar results given the...

Can La Marzocco Linea Mini make good out of "bad" coffee?

Dial the same variables into any capable machine and you're getting the same result. I'm sure the Linea Mini is a fine machine but it is still pushing hot water through coffee grounds at pressure. It's not performing a never-seen-before miracle of physics

Bunn Phase Brew?

A friend of mine picked one up on my recommendation of Bunn's for drip coffee (as a general recommendation). He is thrilled with it but I haven't been able to get by to try the coffee. He did say that the warm up time he was seeing in use was longer than what is advertised. I am

Lowering the brew pressure on Gaggia Classic

For what it's worth, I reduced the pressure on my Classic when I owned one and found similar results to Dan. I didn't notice a significant taste difference. One of the tricky parts is actually measuring the pressure to reset it. There was a pass-around portafilter pressure gauge at the time that I w...

Want your coffee to taste better ? Call it Eco-friendly

There is certainly something to that. Perception is a powerful thing. As Jim mentioned, that is why truly blind tasting is so important. The surprising blind tasting results from things such as wine, beer, and of course coffee all attest to that

Compak K10 Fresh - Zero grind retention so far

There is an old saying I always think about when these types of debates come up. "If you set out to prove something, you generally will."
