I've noticed on my Weber Key Mark i that slower grind speeds tend to enhance the clarity of espresso. I usually grind at the slow end of the range

I just use a flick of the wrist with my thumb or finger on the edge of the basket when I empty the puck into the trash can. For tougher pucks, I'll hold my left arm out and hit it with my right hand holding the portafilter to help dislodge the puck
