Hi Triton: With the Auber PID Temperature Controller I used the Autotune feature. Group temperature seems to be stable within +/- 1deg. C. So, as you know, in general, lightly roasted beans need a higher brew temperature, and dark roasted beans a lower brew temperature. So once I've dialed in the gr...

Alastair: Thanks for the nice words... I really was going for a clean modification, so that when the machine is out on the kitchen island, it looks like the machine may have been made that way. BTW, the brackets that support the project box, allow the box to be slid out from the frame for whenever I...

I agree... John, as a matter of fact, after you posted a few years back, I followed your lead and used a lighting rheostat to control my pump too. That mod. served me well and I used it for several years. The reason that I changed that out for the SSVR now, was only because I wanted to put

Hey Triton - The "PWM Controller", looks like a great alternative to the SSVR I used, and should be able to be placed in the same project enclosure that I used (or a slightly larger one). Great idea! Seems to me that if you use a DYI controller to control the pump, you only need to

I recently added an Auber PID temperature control for the heating elements in the water cylinder. At the same time, I used a solid state voltage regulater (SSVR) and a potentiometer (rheostat) to comtrol pump speed (pre-infusion pressure). The whole project fit inside a medium sized projuct enclosur...

Thanks for running those scenarios with the Scace, it is very helpful for me to see the real range of temps with the practice I've been using, of course, I'm not certain our respective PStats are set to the same pressure (My max pressure is 1.3bar) , but it sure gives me an idea of about where the t...

Because I like brewing different blends and different SO's I am also interested in having a predictable way of altering Strega's brew temperature. For the past several months, what I've been doing is grinding and filling the PF and tamping, then flushing 6-10 seconds to empty the HX, and then timing...

Stephen: You can heat them up with a heat gun, it will soften the thread locker, and you'll be able to get them off. Just keep in mind, you'll have to get them pretty hot. I've also put portafilter handles in pots of boiling water for the same purpose, but you can't exactly do that with your steam

Thanks John B. and Jim. I appreciate the advice, great suggestion to remove the heating element. I used citric acid when I re-built a Brasilia Cappuccino Del-1 and although it was necessary to let the parts soak over night, it cleaned up quite well with no odor. Rick
