By empty shells/shards do you mean broken up pieces of the beans?

Syrup combinations
Me too. Made me think of Mashti Malone's in Hollywood. They have ice cream flavors like rosewater, lavender, saffron, etc. My favorite is called 'Herbal Snow', which is a sorbet made with basil seed. Everything is very aromatic and exotic, except for their "regular" flavors (vanchocstraw)

Distilled water shortage in Florida
I'm having a lot of trouble as well. One day I went to three Publix, 2 Walgreens and Target (all places I've had recent luck), but no dice. Then I tried Winn Dixie, and was surprised to find plenty of distilled water, in gallon and 2.5 gallon bottles. I've been back a few times and they always have it

Today's pull of Counter Culture Gradient transported me to childhood.
Something like this happened to me once when I was very small, except I went for the fruit loops, but got fruit loops and a ton of grease ants. I can say that in my life I've definitely had shots that have disgusted me almost as much of that bowl of insects

Wow, Florida is banned from ordering Lelit Bianca
It's a beautiful machine. I was thinking about the Niche, but ended up getting a Fiorenzato F4 grinder, and my struggle was getting that dialed in. Took around 2lbs, but I finally got it

Wow, Florida is banned from ordering Lelit Bianca
Wow, this is a first hearing about Fl deliveries. Sorry you had so much of a hassle. I ordered the exact machine from Chris Coffee on 2/21 and it arrived here in Flagler Beach on the 24th. The only issue was that the UPS guy didn't want to carry the 75lb box to the door, so I carried

Sweet Maria's Kenya Nyeri Ichuga Factory
That about describes it, lol. "not bad". It was definitely better, but for me, it's still too acidic. I roasted it again last week and it's pretty close to the previous 1/31 roast. I was attempting to get rid of that flat point just before 1C, to see if I could sweeten it up, but mostly just ended u...

Sweet Maria's Kenya Nyeri Ichuga Factory
Here's my latest. I'm not sure what happened. I think in my attempt to maintain a declining ROR I panicked at the end and dumped the beans earlier than I wanted. I have a hard time hearing 1c with this one, and was struggling to hear the start and end, for sure. Anyway, the overall time and temp are...

Sweet Maria's Kenya Nyeri Ichuga Factory
I've been using this bean to learn the particulars of my new Bullet roaster. It's been a little bit of a challenge. Somehow I missed this thread and I'm so glad I found it, as It's really validated my experience with it so far. I don't remember much from the first roast. It was literally the first a...

Good espresso/barista in Los Angeles?
When I lived in LA 11 years ago there were only a handful of places to get great espresso. I used to go to Intelligentsia and Lamill, in Silverlake. Jones coffee roasters in Pasadena. Klatch out in the Inland Empire. I've been back and it seems like coffee has exploded. Espresso bars all over the pl...
