Vancouver Cafes

Thank you, all, for your suggestions. I ended up visiting several cafes, and here are some of my thoughts. The best shot I had was at Little Cafe on Robson. They just opened in the past month or so. I had two shots here, pulled by two different baristas, with two different results. My

Vancouver Cafes

I will be spending this coming week in Vancouver. Any suggestions on cafes to visit, especially for espresso? The latest recommendation thread I found was from 2013. Thank you, phillip

Izzo Alex Leva - Dosing, baskets, accessories and springs

II dont know the material of this, but it is very, hard. If I was doing this a lot I would pay a machinist to make one for me out of steel. Actually, I would just try to make one, first

Izzo Alex Leva - Dosing, baskets, accessories and springs

There is a thread somewhere of my LSM rebuild, but here is the relevant part for you. This is what I use to remove the brass part at the end. A piece of hard plastic that was lying around the shop. Use a piece of paper to outline the four indentations on the brass and then use

San Diego coffee shops

Just to add my affirmation and appreciation for these suggestions - James Coffee was excellent. I had their espresso (twice) and a complimentary cold brew coffee that was the best I have had. During my less than 24 hour stay I didn't have a chance to visit the other recommendations. Thank you, Phillip

New monsters comes to the house (faema ariete)

Find a cooler or something similar that has a top that can close and hold the heat. Add your boiler, citric acid in powder form and boiling hot water. You may need to boil several pots of water. Leave it alone for a few days and go take care of the 100 other things that need your attention

3rd broken heating element in less than 3 years

The bottom element sits lowest in the water and is the 1000 W element. Thankfully, I saved the first replacement element and it was manufactured 12/14,and so was its replacement. Perhaps it was a bad batch. The one to be installed was made 7/15. I've been curious about a PID and I know there are

3rd broken heating element in less than 3 years

Thank you, Ira, for helping. The 1000 watt element is on the bottom, so it's not a water level problem. Maybe I have a bad run of elements, but that seems unlikely. I don't know if the rotary switch could be the culprit? I have a new one to replace it, but, I'm not sure which connections
