Compak K3 broken hopper
Mine took about a year, maybe 18 months. Started out like the photo. Didn't think about drilling a stress relief. Good idea. The lid on the new hopper is very tight, to the point I'm not going to snap it in place. For reference, mine's not locked in, but it is a snug fit. Was thinking a little mineral

Compak K3 broken hopper
Just a quick check, any K3 users suffer a broken hopper. Mine developed a crack that spread until plastic chipped off and fell into the burrs. A local shop was testing a K10 and suffered similar fractures. Have a new hopper, just curious if this is a larger problem

Risky Location of Pump on Alex Duetto?
I tend to over analyze things, but that's what steered me away from the Duetto. A bearing failure will take out the electrical motor. But that is a fairly rare event. Asked Chris @ ChrisCoffee, and he agreed, but said basically if you're going to squeeze that much into that small a space, then your ...

Double Boiler Vibe: Expobar Brewtus III or Alex Duetto or Vibiemme Double Domobar
I'll echo what JmanEspresso said. Any of these machines will make great espresso. I personally got fixated on VBM. And I love it, but I'm sure I would be very happy with a Brewtus or a Duetto. Just love those acres of gleaming stainless. In the end, it's what catches your eye. And thanks to a four y...

Need advice on how to check electrical work on Rancilio Silvia
Hot box testing WITH ALL COVERS INSTALLED. If you are not trained in electrical / electronic work, stay out. Quick check for the brew thermostat - if you turn on the steam switch, does the boiler light come on? If yes the most likely candidate is the brew thermostat (T1 - 100C). When you flip the st...

Double Boiler Vibe: Expobar Brewtus III or Alex Duetto or Vibiemme Double Domobar
VBM and Brewtus are either/or (plumb or pourover). Both are available as plumbed in. I thought the Duetto was very tightly packed. Didn't care for the vertical pump alignment. If the pump bearing goes, it leaks directly into the motor. Very expensive relative to a vibe pump replacement. They all hav...

Remove Fingerprints on Stainless Steel
Vinegar is the magic cleaner. We use it on wood floors, in the carpet cleaner, counter tops, all over. That and a micro fiber cloth. For scratches, I use the impregnated polishing cloths Cape Cod Cloth I think they're called. Work wonders on my watch bracelet
