Bezzera Strega - not holding steam pressure

Follow-up: took it to a local pro who's ended up being great to work with. He tracked the problem down to a faulty relay. Rebuilt the group & piston with new seals while he was at it. I am also getting the case blackened and patinated by the metals shop I work for. Excited to get it all back together!

Bezzera Strega - not holding steam pressure

It seems to hold pressure until I steam milk or do anything else. Once it begins to drop the boiler won't come back on unless it's a cold start. Cycling the power doesn't kick it on. Mysterious

Bezzera Strega - not holding steam pressure

Some expertise would be much appreciated! I've exhausted my troubleshooting skills. My Bezzera Strega starts up fine and boiler gets to 1.25bars. But after any use that causes the pressure to drop, it just continues to lose pressure and the heating element does not come back on. I have replaced the ...

Advice for getting started with Bezzera Strega

Hi Vijay, Sounds like you are maybe already doing this, but if not, a scale will do so much to improve shot quality & consistency! Once your grind is close, you can add .5-1g if the shots are pulling too fast, or dose down .5-1g if the shots are too slow. So change your dose first, then

Plumber's Putty vs. Teflon Tape

Thanks both, I was wondering about that. The Oaty stuff worked for 6-8 weeks.... I had also replaced all the threaded pieces when I put the Oatey stuff on. I've got to pull it apart regardless, so we'll see if the rectorseal works better. We steam daily, my wife is a bit rough with the steam wand......

Plumber's Putty vs. Teflon Tape

Thanks EricS! As always, really appreciate your help. Here is the stuff I used last time: Oatey Great White pipe joint compound with PTFE {link} I've ordered up some Rectorseal #5, hopefully it will work better

Plumber's Putty vs. Teflon Tape

Timely discussion, I could use some advice! I've always had a steam leak on my Bezzera strega, where the steam valve goes through the casing front (between 9&12 below). This is a threaded connection, tightened from within the case. I have tried the following, in this order: * plumbers tape * adding ...

Bezzera Strega - fixing leaky steam wand joint

Thanks to both of you. On mine, the issue is really that the steam wand is completely loose when the wand is vertical. Finger tight is probably +1/3 of a turn past vertical, and tight (no leaks) is +1/2 turn (with the wand straight up!). To work around this I put a thin fiber plumbing gasket between...

Bezzera Strega - fixing leaky steam wand joint

My Strega has been leaking steam for quite some time, from the area where the valve assembly goes through the front casing- essentially between 9 & 12. Tightening #9 helps, but then the steam wand is at a funky angle. I have tried PTFE paste, and also adding a thin plumbing gasket, neither really se...

Owner experience with Bezzera Strega

Hey, looking for any tips or insight here... As mentioned previously, I had a steam leak where the steam wand fittings hit the front of the case. Upon further inspection I found the fittings were all good, things were merely loose. So my questions: Should I use PTFE tape or putty on the threads here...
