General question about handling cafe drink quality
I once ordered an espresso at a donut/coffee shop with a friend. The espresso was undrinkably bitter, so I only took one sip and left it. My friend went back another day (for a donut) and the barista asked about me -- he explained I only drink the crema

Highest chance of success - roasters
SM coffee roasted on an Aillio Bullet will blow away local average roasters wherever you live. It doesn't have PID control (recipes control power/fan/drum speed), but PID control doesn't make much sense on a drum roaster anyways. It's pricey but I don't think anything else compares if you want somet...

Kafatek MC6: How to Grind Finer?
On my MC5 there is well over one full rotation past espresso range before burr touch. You could loosen the collar to see if you can turn the funnel further. (There are two markers so that the grinder can be far to your left or right and you can see one of them. I spose you could also get

Buyers Remorse - Kaleido M10 Astringent Roasts
I agree with you-I have a Bullet and use recipes exclusively, but they are simple power-based recipes. PID drum roasting just seems like a bad idea to me

Buyers Remorse - Kaleido M10 Astringent Roasts
Do you need to use PID control? Most drum roasters use power instead (and wouldn't oscillate from 100% to 30% and back). That could possibly be the issue

New Preinfusion for La Marzocco Linea Mini R
What I mean is if HX temperature is very close to the steam boiler temp, and you put something gross in a blind portafilter, and ran a long blooming phase, and used up all the steam (let's say you've also tripped the autofill, so the steam element is off until it can refill after the shot), the HX p...

New Preinfusion for La Marzocco Linea Mini R
There's also that the steam boiler might be off or it might be refilled (but it seems like the Micra at least does not refill during brewing). Maybe?: You have a really long blooming time. You steam a quart of milk (that's why you got a Mini), dropping the steam boiler temperature enough that the HX...

La Marzocco Linea Mini R
Let's say they make an announcement 3 months in advance. What about the people who ordered the day before the announcement? P.S. The S&P 500 returned 24% in 2023 (including dividends), so if you spent $5k on a Mini in January, you lost $1250

Buy a 1kg Home Roast Machine
Plug for the Bullet: The Bullet is great, and you can do 250g or 1kg. With the infrared temp sensor, you can match profiles (with some effort) across batch sizes, since it's actually measuring the bean temperature in a quicker, much more direct way than a thermocouple. You can very easily match drop...
