How to measure grind consistency from one grinder to another

There aren't any basic tools that will help you measure anything in espresso range. You need mass spectometer analysis or similar done in a lab. In filter/drip range, Kruve is good enough for doing apples to apples comparison

La Marzocco Linea Mini User Experience

With the LM, I have the stock baskets (in various sizes - 17g, 21g etc) and I also have an 18g VST basket. Does anyone know the dimensions of the stock baskets? is it 58.5mm? I have a Motta "distributor" which doesn't seem to fit to in the VST basket, but fits snug into the stock baskets. I'd like

EK43 grind setting + La Marzocco Linea Mini

thanks! Right now I'm using 0.8 on the stock basket (17g) dosing 18g or 19g. This results in ~40g out in 35 to 40 seconds. Kind of a slow shot, but I found shots at 0.9 didn't taste as good. What I also see is that there's usually quite a few fines at the bottom of the cup, so I

EK43 grind setting + La Marzocco Linea Mini

Yes that's obvious, but I'm assuming most people using it for espresso have it calibrated for just touching at 0, and then I don't imagine settings varying wildly by grinders

EK43 grind setting + La Marzocco Linea Mini

Just wondering if anyone here uses the combination in the topic and if so what ballpark grind setting do you happen to use. Would be great if you could indicate which burr set you have and whether it's the new or the old dial of course

La Marzocco Linea Mini Advice for Steaming Milk

I have been using the default basket, didn't realize it was only 14g. I have been putting 18g in it.. Will try again with the 18g VST basket. When going up in basket size, should I expect to grind finer?

La Marzocco Linea Mini Advice for Steaming Milk

Thanks for all the help! Esp the beginners video from La Marzocco was very helpful. I have been practicing with soapy water (not to waste any milk) and it's getting better. I'm happy to hear the flow rate isn't an issue - just means needing to grind a little finer I think?

La Marzocco Linea Mini Advice for Steaming Milk

I'm a fairly new espresso "beginner" who has just recently got a LMLM. Mostly used to do filter brewing before and wanted to have some new challenges.. I'm using an EK43 S with SSP burrs. For other LMLM owners, I have never really steamed milk before, my steam boiler seems to hover around 1.5-1.6 ba...

Niche Zero - Unimodal Grinding Technique

Feeding beans one at a time has the effect of an effectively coarser grind. So you can easily have the same effect by grinding coarser in general and not bothering with this technique. I've tested grinding + regrinding and there wasn't really any significant difference when measuring the %s in each ...

Has anyone here retrofitted their LMLM so that it works with the new app? How does the process work?
