What are these "puck rake" and "puck cap" things?
Thank you guys very much. As far as the distribution tool, I have used a single finger, a.k.a. wire for ~10 years. For me it does eliminate channeling

What are these "puck rake" and "puck cap" things?
I see people using some "puck rake" in the porta-filter before it is tamped to stir the ground coffee. It seems to have perhaps 8 wire fingers. What is it and where can I get one? Also, I see other folk using a cap on top of the tamped puck inserting it just before pulling the shot(s). What

Retail, Freshness, and Roast Dates
4 months! YIKES!!!! Most high end roasters are roasting every day and want their offerings used in a timely fashion - NOT 4 months later! I have to say that this reminds me of Burger King. When I first went to one in the early 1960's (maybe even late 1950's) they would take your order at one window

Not so Fresh Market
You guys could buy your beans DIRECT from the roasters thereby assuring that you get fresh roasted coffee. I don't think it fair to hold the roasters responsible for what intermediaries do with their product. I believe that if you bought beans from Stumptown, Intelly, CC, et al they are shipped to y...

The craziest %#*$ing thing I've seen all day...

Sacre Bleu!!! NP cups are being made in China! No wonder Terry quit carrying them. The Inker cups look good as do the ACF. Has anyone any experience with the Cremaware cups and saucers sold by {link}? Are they interchangeable with NP?

With what shall Nuova Point cups be replaced?
The Nuova Point cups I so dearly love are no longer sold by Espresso Parts! (Dam you, Terry!) One can still buy them at Amazon (in a style I do not want!) or they are on backorder at {link}. There may be a couple of other places where they can "sort of" be had. My dilemma is that

Origin and Purpose of Doser
Hmmm...is it possible that uber-fresh beans, i.e. 1 hour post roast, can be consumed sooner if ground and allowed to sit for some hours? Will the de-gas process be quickened enough to allow consumption of a good tasting espresso, i.e. one that is not harsh or gassy? Len <---- can't wait to get my ju...
