Should I descale my Expobar Brewtus IV ?

My Expobar Brewtus IV is now around 4 years old with moderate use (4-6 shots a day). From the first day I used water from a Brita pitcher as well as a small resin filter in the water tank which I replaced regularly. The other day I overhauled the E61 group, cleaning all the valves and replacing the

Solis/Baratza Maestro Plus makes high-pitched squeaking sound, but only when empty

Thanks again Mick. Wouldn't it be better that I email Baratza, attention of Pierce Jens I assume, and refer to your phone call ? Then I can attach a picture of the motor of my Solis, to be sure that there is no misunderstanding. Btw, what kind of pliers would you recommend to get the gear box off

Solis/Baratza Maestro Plus makes high-pitched squeaking sound, but only when empty

Turtle thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Unfortunately my Solis Maestro Plus has a different model motor than mentioned in the GB2.0 guide, so I don't know if the upgrade kit wil fit. BUT, I disassembled the grinder and put a very small amount of white grease (Lithium I assume) on the g...

Solis/Baratza Maestro Plus makes high-pitched squeaking sound, but only when empty

I still have a Solis/Baratza Maestro Plus grinder but after buying a Mahlkonig Vario about 2 years ago I didn't use it anymore. Recently however I started brewing with my AeroPress and Hario V60 again and although the Vario can easily be set to coarser and finer I still find it a bit troublesome to ...

Bought a Mahlkönig/Baratza Vario but have a question about grounds volume.

Will try that tomorrow. Another thing that I noticed is that dosing with the timer seems to be not very consistent yet. I ground for instance 16 seconds and got 21 grams. Next time with 15 seconds, without changing the macro and micro setting, and expecting to get 19-20 grams I got 17 grams. Could i...

Bought a Mahlkönig/Baratza Vario but have a question about grounds volume.

Because with that my LM double basket is filled to just above the rim, so that I can level it easily without wasting too much and I like the somewhat stronger shots. I think the cause for the grounds on the funnel wall is static. When I grind in a container it also happens and I have to tap

Bought a Mahlkönig/Baratza Vario but have a question about grounds volume.

@nixter: Do you mean dosing less as a possible solution for the grounds on the wall of the funnel ?

Bought a Mahlkönig/Baratza Vario but have a question about grounds volume.

Thanks for the replies. Meanwhile I found the cause. It was me. I had changed my workflow. While using my Mazzer I only tapped downwards (to settle the grounds in the basket) after leveling and before tamping. With the Vario I also tapped after dosing. Of course the level of the grounds sinks doing ...

Bought a Mahlkönig/Baratza Vario but have a question about grounds volume.

In another thread I asked if it was wise to buy a Baratza (or actually a Mahlkönig as it is called here in Holland) Vario to replace my Mazzer Mini E. Meanwhile I took the plunge and bought one. I still have to fine-tune it, although I am already in the ballpark because I had drinkable shots. I have...
