Thanks for the pointers - agree weighing isn't necessary but it would be nice to combine with the pressure profile and time information; this at least provides the option

Do you have any pointers for the cups? I've yet to find anything that would work with the Lunar and CT1

Poor choice of words. I expected the heating cycle to be shorter (or the cooldown phase longer). Erik mentioned he tends to wait 1/3 into the heating cycle and I wanted to make sure this really means > 1 minute after the light has switched on again

Out of curiosity, I timed a few cycles. With the thermostat set to ~88-91C (open/closed lid) a heating cycle takes almost exactly 4 minutes, followed by 20 seconds with the lights off. I've only timed half a dozen cycles but this seems strangely imbalanced. Are those timings what one would expect wi...

No, haven't gotten to that part. Okay, I'll try the gentle force approach in that case. Thanks as always

I've seen the link but it's not.. helpful? The 'Remove the Piston' section has a photograph with the clip already removed and a caption that says 'To remove the piston you loosen the clips on the axle and pull it out'. The 'loosen the clips' part is what I am confused about, but @aecletec's comment ...

More of a maintenance question: what tool do I use to remove the C-rings holding the piston in place? I wanted to give the whole thing a good clean, add lubricant, etc., but those foil me.. to firm to pry apart with fingernails, can't get a plier between the opening without scratching the surface. C...

I've received a similar email from Wouter minutes after I posted the original question. A slight tap during the initial lift seems to be working just fine -- I should have made the connection between the temperature and the valve based on earlier comments
