Fixing up a La Pavoni Europiccola
You could replace the pad with silicone sealant. It will be difficult to get a nice finish but you'll only see it when you open it up. Squeeze it on as best you can and smooth it with a knife, spoon or finger dipped in isopropyl alcohol

also make sure that the contacts that go down into the tank make a good contact with the cradle and the case of the machine. clean these with a scotchbrite and bend the pins a little if necessary. This is often a soure of problemo

The control boxes are expensive if it is faulty. Talk to Dave at Atomic, he might be able to do you a reconditioned one for a much better price
