James Harper podcast "The Science Of Coffee"
Not sure how many of y'all listen to this podcast, but I find it interesting and insightful. He challenges some conventional wisdom. All episodes are great but I especially like this one on freshness

Londinium Vectis use cases
I have been using the Quickmill Achilles 0996 for over 10 years now, and am looking for a new lever machine. I was hoping that some of the current Vecis users can help me out with some use case and workflow issues. 90% of the time I pull three shots (split with my wife) and steam milk for

Plumbed in Quick Mill Achilles LEAKS after 10 years (not from where you think)
Worth checking. Though we live in an old neighborhood in Houston, and our problems tend to be too LOW pressure, not too high. (I have a neighbor obsessed with this, who texts me about once a month complaining about water pressure) I'll get a gauge. Still, disconnecting

Plumbed in Quick Mill Achilles LEAKS after 10 years (not from where you think)
I was ignorant of this. It makes some kind of sense. But I think I'll stick to the reservoir for now

Plumbed in Quick Mill Achilles LEAKS after 10 years (not from where you think)
Hello Everyone, 10 years ago I plumbed in my Quick Mill Achilles 0996 spring lever machine and wrote about it here: "Plumbed in my QuickMill Achille 0996" And here: {link} and here: {link} Then, last week Friday, it sprung a leak. And not from where I would have expected the leak - from the boiler

Quick Mill Achilles ??
Hi Tom, I have an Achilles that I bought, golly, must be over 10 years ago. I have posted some videos on YouTube of various (mostly bad) quality that you might find marginally useful. (I think I am dpiette there, too) I have also posted some things here about replacing the seals. If you still have t...

Owner experience with Orphan Espresso's Fixie manual coffee grinder
I did put loctight on mine, and so far, so good. But being the belt and suspenders type of guy I am, I kept looking on the OE site for backup plan, and found this: "(we use the same knob shaft on all Lido, and Fixie grinders)" so from that I infer that you can buy the Lido replacement

Help with spring lever -Quickmill Achille
I think the first thing to do is to check the gaskets, as mentioned above. You can get a set of the Blue Cafelat gaskets from EspressoParts right there in Seattle. (SKU# CAF_31 You'll need three.) Dead simple to replace, unless the rubber gaskets have baked onto the piston. You'll need a 5mm Allen w...
