I'm a little upset this morning (but w/ a new purchase that could all change My KitchenAid Pro Line espresso machine is leaking and I've been told I need to ship it in for assessment and possible repairs. The rep on the phone was brutally honest w/ me and suggested that it probably can't

Illy vs locally roasted beans extraction times
Thanks all for your feedback so far. Of special interest, perhaps, I was reading some postings on another site the other day where someone was asking a slightly similar, but unrelated question around Illy coffees. They indicated that their (red topped tin of beans) had a best before date of 08/2009 ...

Illy vs locally roasted beans extraction times
I've calibrated my grinder for maximum fineness and had thought that I was getting decent shots for the most part from my KA Pro line grinder. I've noticed lately, however, that my shots are lacking density, thickness and crema. My shots are starting to appear more watery and lack a good crema. I am...

Still can't steam milk properly
HB, et al, couldn't have put it better. I have found the info here invaluable in terms of getting really good microfoam. I use good ole organic whole milk (really cold) and a really cold pitcher. I'd keep my pitcher in the fridge at all times but I don't want to run the risk of it taking

How long do you allow your espresso to sit before adding milk?
Sometimes I try to risk pulling a second shot and then pour the milk in both but I have found that the crema on the first pull suffers a bit as it's standing. Most often, I pull a shot into a warmed cup and top it off w/ foam/milk almost immediately

Why wouldn't Gaggia recommend backflushing?
I've been reading a bunch of interesting info here about backflushing and I am about to do the same to mine (have used it now for 4-5 months without a single backflush...however, I have descaled). I have a Pro Line and I'm sure that I read somewhere that these have a 3-way value which will allow saf...

KitchenAid Pro Line portafilter spouts removal
In an attempt to thoroughly clean my KitchenAid Pro Line portafilter (w/ the appropriate detergent), I was wondering if anyone out there knows if the spouts on the base of the pf can be removed. I've consulted the manual, KitchenAid support representatives and some online resources. No where can I f...

Soggy Pucks
I'm relatively new to this site and have been doing a bunch of reach (FAQs and posts). I am using a KitchenAid Pro Line espresso unit with pretty good success. For the first month of use, my pucks were pretty dry when knocking them out of the pf but I've noticed that they've been increasingly soggy ...
