Espresso in Paris
I'll second that. My preferred place outside home to have a coffee. Since recently they now also do their roasting in house and therefore also sell roasted beans (green as well I think...). Restricted opening hours though so check before you take time to get here (jan 2011: mon-fri 8:30-14:30, monda...

Little or no outgassing?
Some interesting test were made at the now closed coffeetime forum with domestic vacuum bags/pump during 2008. The conclusion was that out gassing is reduced almost to zero. Wiki articles were written about this and they can still be read at the coffeetime wikidot (tag browse for vacuum for instance)

Doserless grinders... the "flat top electric stove" of coffee?
I'm experimenting with a Mazzer Jolly, doser and chute less. So far it seems to work rather well, no clumping and very little or no static. I have cut away the floor of the chute and when it is clean there is 0.1 to 0.4 gr of coffee stuck to the walls after grinding 7gr of coffee for espresso. I'm

Filter paper between puck and grouphead
Steve, you say cut to fit in the basket. Try to cut a disc large enough so you can place it on top of the basket. If you rinse it before and just dry it by folding it in a towel it will still be damp and easy to place on top. If there is a difference I'd say you

Filter paper between puck and grouphead
Perhaps good for the aeropress but for this purpose a filter that does not let oils pass would be better since the idea is to keep fines and oils away from the shower screen and piston cylinder

Filter paper between puck and grouphead
Standard filter cones for making filter coffee, size N°4. I staple two of them together, there is enough space to draw three circles and then I just cut with a pair of scissors. That gives 12 discs

Filter paper between puck and grouphead
I use this method on my Cremina. The idea of using filter discs as I understood was not only to keep the shower screen and piston cylinder clean from coffee oils but also to reduce the violent attack from the water on the puck as can be the case in lever machine, kind of improving the water distribu...

How does La Spaziale heat water?
I measured a machine that was around 10 years old and the size of the brew boiler was 335 gram of water. The photo from the TMC forum is the first machine I've seen where the cold water enters the brew boiler like that instead of in the copper colored part as shown in the cut through drawing in the

Bought used La Spaziale Professionale, need info
I've never had the occasion to play with one but from parts diagram to me it looks like the brew unit is the forerunner to the S1 minus the PID. Send me a PM with your email address and I'll forward you a PDF with parts diagram for the Professionale and others
