Why do bulk grinders produce a superior grind for non espresso preparation?

Not yet...still waiting for a reply to an email. I'll send again and call as well. The other companies already mentioned helped as far as they could but I wasn't sure I was speaking to people who knew all the ins/outs and various options available. e.g. I believe there is a choice between discs that...

Why do bulk grinders produce a superior grind for non espresso preparation?

No reply yet...but hoping for something soon. Once the new burrs arrive is it true that they require a LOT of seasoning? Would a 5kg bag of rice work to season?

Why do bulk grinders produce a superior grind for non espresso preparation?

Wow - thanks for the great reply. I contacted ditting directly and will see what happens...I'll update, hopefully with some comparisons between the cast burrs and the machined and get this thread back on topic! Thanks again for the help folks. When (if?) they arrive...is anyone up for a fp/drip/siph...

Why do bulk grinders produce a superior grind for non espresso preparation?

Thank you all for this thread and the contributions. Sorry haven't posted for a while - but didn't have much to report. Anyways I waited for the ebay gods to produce a ditting 804 and after about a year of waiting I now have one. it was about a year old and just missed out on having the

What should pourover grounds look like after I pour?

I have personally found the hasbean brewing guide for Chemex really helpful. And it works! When the brew goes well i have a fairly flat bed of grounds at the end. {link} One slight modification: after stirring the grounds anti-clockwise right before the final descent, i also end with one clock-wise ...

Cirqua AB Formula Packets for Pourover Espresso Machines

Wondering if I may revive an old thread? This is exactly the same question I had (best water for non-espresso use). Thank you to everyone for all the helpful comments. I too have been used to brita filtered water now but then our brita jug fell to the ground and broke into 20 or so pieces. To tie

Turn your French press into a French pull

I just realised something - something everyone else has already noticed probably! If the spout was 1/4 the way up the FP with more FP body above it then we wouldn't have nearly the mess with the FP pull. Instead all the grounds would go up top. Something like this: {link} But with a FP plunger insta...

Turn your French press into a French pull

Thanks Dave (if I may) for posting about this - if I may add some of my own mini-findings for any thoughts you may have with a similar method! I've been doing this method off and on for about three months now. After being without my espresso machine for so long i also began to play with my

Baratza Vario Grinder - Second Look

It's interesting to hear that taste-wise there isn't much in it between good quality grinders wrt FP/drip. Would a possible test be to find the sweet spot for the Vario FP and then find the sweet spot for the SJ FP and compare them? Rather than get them to be the same brewing time? i.e. find the poi...
