Tips for/Importance of Fresh HX Boiler Water
Read the Insanely long Water article somewhere around here. In there, it explains how scaling builds up faster, the more fresh water flows through the machine. Interesting read for anyone wanting to control scale buildup

La Marzocco GS3: New Rules
Rob, I agree with you on that. It is something which really worries me. We are so quick to move our technology, intellectual property, and businesses anywhere we can save a buck, but in the end, I think we will lose big time! Here is a little story from real life. I used to live out in the country

My first post - and my first day with a new espresso machine!
Sorry Jon...that was my bad, writing on how I now do it since your suggestion. I find that my best results come by locking in and starting immediately after the cooling flush. However, the water is still too hot during the first 6 oz, so I have to give another 3 oz after emptying the cup before I pu...

Guidance for my first espresso machine purchase

If anything goes wrong with either, you will be without both while the machine is being repaired. Also, if it ends up that you don't like the grinder, you...

My first post - and my first day with a new espresso machine!
I think your problem may be here. I was doing very similar with mine, and getting very inconsistent results until I read a thread that JonR10 responded to. He suggests pulling the cooling flush for a minimum of (I think) 40 seconds, while tamping and preparing the portafilter, and then pulling a sho...
