Prodigal Coffee Roasters
That was my experience at first with both Nestor and Frank Torres geisha until I accidentally found my dial by divine intervention. I only brew V60, so I am not sure about espresso. But, I accidentally bumped by Forté's macro grind setting to one macro finer than a typical Colombia and the Frank was...

Sey Maxi Garcia - I no longer know difference between Natural and Washed
I don't like Ethiopian coffees or naturals very much, but!... I also loved this Sey Peru Garcia. I like most of Sey's Perus. And I know what you mean by the smell and the taste of this particular coffee. I thought of it more as fragrant purple figs, but it was definitely in that blue/purple fruit

Scott Rao starts Prodigal Coffee
Pretty sure he sold that Amherst cafe in the late 90s, but they just kept the name as Rao's

Compak K10 Fresh OR Mazzer Kony E
The static screen was designed to be used with the hopper full. With hopper full, grounds will get pushed out from other grounds behind them (but with a lot more wasted coffee). The grounds exit out a small rectangular shaped exit chute and thus get packed together, which would result in more clumpi...

Compak K10 Fresh OR Mazzer Kony E
Hi, Mark, Just weighing in with my Kony E experience, which has been ~ 11 months now. I do not use the hopper and just single dose by weight, so can only talk about that. Used this way, the Kony E would retain a lot of grounds if you didn't remove the static screen, but that's why

Sightglass single origin bar
Tom, I have been introducing a friend of mine to espresso, and he is brutally (refreshingly) honest. Says the worst shot I've exposed him to was a shot of Owl's at Sightglass (and I sipped it - I'd have to agree with his opinion). So, you aren't alone in your experience, and I find your opinion

Sightglass single origin bar
I walked into Sightglass yesterday and was delighted to discover they have a new bar in action upstairs featuring a Strada EP, my beloved Kony E, an array of coffee brewing equipment (Aeropress, Clever, V60, Chemex, etc), and....YESSSSSS....a single origin menu with pairings of ways to prepare your ...

Anyone try Blue Bottle Coffee?
I had never heard that - we're always told to only grind right before brewing. Thanks for this Rao reference. (but I still wish Blue Bott had a grinder + spro machine in Berkeley so I could get some of the good stuff from them on market days)

What is wow'ing you?
Been playing around with Stumptown single origins lately. Currently, the Guatemala Santa Clara I got this week is easiest to make a great shot with: I've been dosing at 19 grams (today is day 4 past roast for me) at around 199.whatever brew temp. Sweet, malty, chocolate. I am always happy to find a ...

Anyone try Blue Bottle Coffee?
Blue Bott at the Saturday Ferry Building farmer's market has always ground drip coffee on the spot and dialed in their espresso (well, ahem, sort of). Three blends depending on where you go: Roman Espresso on the side where these pics are taken, Retrofit outside in the front of the building, Hayes V...
