New La Pavoni owner needs help!
That is a great price.... the Cremina I recently acquired was found by my good friend at a yard sale for $3 and of course it rocks IMO. You want "restaurant like froth"...... I'd want something much better than what I've seen served at most places. Most people I come across don't know the real diffe...

CLR as boiler descaler?
Well if the machine was being descaled as you normally would as part of routine maintenance I'd say no, to use something specifically for descaling. But if the thing is torn down and will be easy to flush everything 100% I'd use CLR without question. Several years ago I rebuilt an Olympia Cremina fo...

Olympia Maximatic (badged as Pasquini) on the way
Can't offer any info as I don't own one. But it looks like an incredible machine to have. I recently watched a video by Orphan Espresso on this machine. Do let us know how it works out for you. Later!

LMWDP Rollcall
Well I just finished the burr swap on the 1st PL I'm working on. Took some time and effort to think it out and the old "measure twice and drill once." But the results with old beans are superb. Used them just to check for proper burr spacing. Haven't pulled any shots just yet, but the grind particle...

LMWDP Rollcall
Hi Dennis..... how does that PL grinder work with the lever? I've been using a modified PL for over 2 years and have recently started using it with my newly acquired Cremina with really good results. I'm about to tear into it to do the Mazzer Mini burr swap. Actually I'm doing 2 PL burr swaps as one...

Modifying KitchenAid Proline to hold Mazzer Mini burrs
Well I have a few things to report on the burr swap. The fact is the round channel the stationary burr sits in is slightly smaller than the Mini burr, maybe .5mm at most. Thought of a few different approaches to this and broke out my Dremel with a proper bit and slowly ground this channel a bit larg...

Water volume per pull (Olympia Cremina)

Modifying KitchenAid Proline to hold Mazzer Mini burrs
Orwa, after reading all that you have posted I still don't buy your theories. I do appreciate all the info you took the time to post and agree that the machined area with the edges might pose a problem with burr seating. BUT the stationary burr can be shimmed or that area could be machined somewhat,...

Capresso Infinity conical burr grinders good for espresso?
The Infinity is a great grinder for the $$$. I've had one over 2 years. It does have its shortcomings, but does a pretty good job overall. Is it espresso specific? Nope..... but it is capable of producing some really good shots. My only complaint with mine is the grounds retention. This depends on t...

What's the story behind your login name?
Well the "spro" part of my username is obviously for the espresso and the "745" is the amount of weight I was deadlifting before I had to give up bodybuilding/powerlifting due to health reasons. I use this number because I loved lifting so much I knew I'd never forget it..... My old username was sha...
