Trouble dialing in Ponte Vecchio Lusso

Personal taste preference. Also prefer singles pulled on the MCal. Singles to my palate have a more complex taste with more distinct characteristics. Reserve doubles for traditional cappuccinos. No real difference in how consistent the pulls are. When off, I'm off pulling singles or doubles. Naked p...

Ponte Vecchio Wires Overheating

Silicone insulate wire. Available at online and real store that sell radio controlled toys. Softer when new vs. the "vinyl" type. Stays flexible after hours of exposure to heat. To reduce corrosion try CorrisionX. A few different varities available. I just use the Red colored can version. Designed t...

Trouble dialing in Ponte Vecchio Lusso

PVL2 user for a few years. Pulling shots similar to how sprint jinx has outlined. Below is what more or less has worked for me. PStat set at 1.1. Personal choice for most the roasts used. 12-14 gm dose dependent on the beans for double basket ground probably finer than most would. Grinder is larger

Elektra Microcasa a Leva maintenance!

Thanks for the info. Hopefully no need to replace the heating element for a few years. Will double check with Stefano when placing the next order for parts. Pstat feed tube on the pre-2005 has a fitting that resembles a pressure fit plumbing fixture. Part of the maintenance was making sure it was cl...

Elektra Microcasa a Leva maintenance!

The Mater pstat needed replacing again in the +11y/o MCal. Removing the bottom plastic plate revealed another issue. A small amount of water. Filled the boiler, powered the machine up to operating pressure. No obvious leaking. After letting the machine cool down to room temp a small puddle of water ...

Elektra Microcasa a Leva maintenance questions

The +12years of use is starting to show some cosmetic wear and another failing pstat. Q1. Small starburst shape corrosion blemish on the brass steam valve housing. Part #37 on the blow apart schematic at Stefano's site. Choice of "cleaner" for what I'm guessing is a solid brass fixture? Q2. Once aga...

Ponte Vecchio Rollcall

PVL 2 group update. Maybe not the prettiest machine or cleanest built. But at 4y/o is still running like new. Just basic routine maintenance has kept the PVL2 running. The insulated boiler seems to have protected all the other electrical components and wiring. Machine is only used 2-4 times/week. No...

Kyocera hand grinder vs. the big guys?

For me it has been pure chance or as Doug noted, " a crap shoot" on finding a decent hand grinder. The most expensive & nicest looker on the "shelf of decor coffee grinders" is a beautiful all wood KyM. The other KYM I've kept grinds a decent cup of pour over drip and requires the least
