Replacing heating element on an older La Pavoni while keeping base flange

Dear all, I must admit I am getting somewhat nostalgic posting on this forum after a pause of a decade. In this post I'll be showing how I repaired an older La Pavoni's heating element without having to replace the flange, which has the advantages of saving money, keeping the older base flange with ...

Can you rest freshly-roasted coffee in the freezer? (with implications)

Dear All, I have always been interested in the logical discrepancy between our definition of staling and the practical need to let the coffee rest, and you know what, I have an interesting question for you! Something that I have always asked myself is whether the changes involved in the coffee resti...

Ways to connect rubber tubing to the body of the group's solenoid?

So it was definitely the Plunger that was responsible of the leak. The spring was broken. I wonder if I can find a replacement locally, I will go to the shops here tomorrow. {image}

Ways to connect rubber tubing to the body of the group's solenoid?

Beautiful, Stefano. Seems like exactly what I need. That plastic crappy thing is quite complex in construction. Furthermore, due to the many parts/gaskets it is also quite vulnerable. Sometimes I don't get Italians. Here is a photo of the solenoid's body after removing the coil. I did not have a 24m...

Ways to connect rubber tubing to the body of the group's solenoid?

@Mohammad: Thank you for your feedback. I will be going to a Parker supplier in Dubai which I found in the Yellow Pages tomorrow. I'll let you know what happens. @Stefano65: Thank you Stefano for the information. Can you be more specific and/or give me links or photos. I understand that it might be ...

Ways to connect rubber tubing to the body of the group's solenoid?

Hello everyone. I am trying to a fix a leaking group of a 2-group, SANREMO commercial espresso machine. My hypothesis was that since the group was constantly dripping, that the inner plunger of the group's solenoid's valve has been worn out, causing it not to form a perfect seal even in the OFF stat...

Cafe Sanora, HealthyRoast, and US patent 8,357,419: A "stomach-friendly" coffee?

Definitely. I mean, the purpose of the patent is apparent from its very wording and the way it is deployed. The charm of the "stomach-friendly" notion is utilized to increase the worth of what otherwise would have merely been a roasted Brazilian coffee. The reason why I was intrigued is that I have ...

Cafe Sanora, HealthyRoast, and US patent 8,357,419: A "stomach-friendly" coffee?

Dear All. I came across this article "here" which promotes a recent effort by a company named Applied Food Sciences, Inc. The revelation is protected under a "US patent number 8,357,419" and is represented by a pre/post roasting procedure that is registered under the name "Healthy Roast®". The claim...

Gas-powered fluid-bed roasters?

No comment. I have been in the coffee industry for a while, and in my last job as a roaster I learnt that roasting knows no fixed rules. It all depends on what you are trying to achieve. Roasting to bring origin flavors is different from roasting to meet a certain expectation in the cup. Roasting dr...

Gas-powered fluid-bed roasters?

As for the 4-min roast. I personally believe that roasting times are not universal, they depend upon the speed of heat transfer in the roasting environment. The dynamics of heat transfer in my roaster are a bit different from Rob's, permitting an accelerated roast. Actually I designed the entire thi...
